The house has changed its purpose, appearance, and owners over time, and each change has built a new layer into it. Originally it was a stable, but later it was used as a factory and warehouse. The main reconstruction project abolishes the subsequently inserted mezzanine, thereby returning the original integrity of the space, while for the needs of placing the office tract, a mezzanine is inserted only along the southern facade. The aim of the interior project was not only to preserve or conserve the existing wealth of layers of the house but also to actively exhibit it. The word LAUBA denotes a circular avenue, a place of games from the childhood of the investor. The mission was to climb its trees and conquer the entire LAUBA without touching the ground. Thus, the game becomes the leitmotif of this house, because the designed system allows the house and art to exhibit each other, like connected vessels. This constant game achieves the elusiveness of the interior identity. The choice of materials and surfaces was made according to the “back to basics” principle – a conscious effort to avoid any details. Aluminium as a modern layer follows the introduction of a new purpose, while the anachronistic wooden floor with its colour and smell reminds of the sand and straw of the former stable.
