The Zagreb Commodity and Value Exchange was founded in 1918 and initially operated in the premises of the Commercial House located in Jurišićeva Street. In November 1920, the Zagreb Stock Exchange bought a plot at the end of Jurišićeva Street from the city of Zagreb. The Stock Exchange immediately started to build a palace.  In a competition for the Zagreb Stock Exchange Building were invited architects Viktor Kovačić, Aladar Baranyai, Ignjat Fischer, Bruno Bauer, Lazar Dungjerski and Jože Plečnik. The facade of the building is covered with white stone from Brač. The main facade is emphasized by the execution of four high Ionic columns that stand on a classic base and carry a simple wreath, reminiscent of a Greek temple. The monumental impression given by the facade is also transferred to the entrance space, which is designed as a high vestibule with a coffered ceiling decorated with rosettes. The main stock exchange hall is round and covered with a coffered reinforced concrete dome with a diameter of 21 meters. The floor of the main stock exchange hall is covered with a mosaic, and the central part with glass prisms that allow the lighting of a smaller hall on the ground floor. Viktor Kovačić died in 1924, and after his death, the architect Hugo Ehrlich took over the jobs and completed the interior decoration of the building. The Zagreb Commodity and Value Exchange building was opened on June 18, 1927. The Stoch Exchange Place is an immovable individually protected cultural property
